Which batch everything came from, without notebooks
Every delivery is saved with its batch, its supplier and its use-by date. When you produce, gramo records which batches went into which recipe. Backwards and forwards, linked.
Why it hurts
Traceability only gets tested on the bad day: a supplier recall, an inspection, a customer saying something made them ill. On that day a notebook in three people's handwriting isn't a system, it's a lost afternoon and an answer that convinces nobody.
How gramo solves it
The batch comes in with the invoice
If the delivery note has batch and use-by date, they're saved when you upload it. It isn't an extra step you have to remember: it's the same moment you record the purchase.
Production uses specific batches
When you close a production sheet, it records which batch of flour and which batch of butter went into that bake. That's what turns a list of purchases into real traceability.
Backwards and forwards
From a supplier's batch you can see everything that came out of it. And from a recipe, which batches each ingredient came from. Both directions, which is what EU Regulation 178/2002 requires.
Use-by dates that warn you in time
What's about to go out of date shows up before it's too late, not when you find it at the back of the cold room.
Frequently asked questions
- Does it work for meat traceability?
- Yes, and that's where it shows most, because meat almost always arrives with a batch number. The batch comes in with the delivery note, stays attached to that ingredient and travels into every recipe that uses it. If you get a recall notice tomorrow, you see at a glance which dishes it went into and on which day. The same goes for fish and eggs.
- Does it meet EU Regulation 178/2002?
- It's built for it: identify the supplier and batch of every delivery, and be able to follow the trail forwards. The regulation requires you to be able to answer, and this is what lets you answer.
- Do I have to write the batches in by hand?
- Not if they're on the delivery note: they're read when you upload it. When the supplier doesn't include them, you can type them in or scan the product label.
- How long does it take to answer a recall?
- As long as it takes you to look up the batch. The answer is already there, it doesn't have to be pieced together.
